About

Welcome to the Bujinkan Kouryuu Dojo, dedicated to the teachings of Hatsumi Masaaki, Soke of the Bujinkan.
The Kouryuu Dojo has been in existence since 1999 when Norman passed the Godan (5th Dan) test given by Hatsumi Sensei where he was given his warrior name 'Kouryuu' which means 'Ferocious Dragon', Nagato Sensei also gave him an affectionate name of 'Oni Jiji' or 'Demon Grandad'.
He has been involved in martial arts for nearly 38 years, starting with Feng Sau Kung Fu in 1982-1985, plus starting training in Bujinkan in 1982.  In 2007 Soke awarded him the Gold Medal for services to the Bujinkan, then in 2012  he awarded him the 'Bufu Ikkan' certificate for spreading the Martial Wind,
in 2014 he was awarded Yushu Shihan (excellent teacher) and in 2017 he was awarded Dai Shihan (Master teacher)
His personal teacher since 1998 in Japan is Someya Sensei and he travels to Japan every year to study with him and Soke Hatsumi,
sometimes  some of his students accompany him.
His military experience includes 5 years in the French Foreign Legion and 9 years in the British Army.
He has Dojo's in Harlow, Northampton, Bramcote near Nottinghim, Walsall, Milnsbridge near Huddersfield, Leeds, Glasgow, Inverness and Malta

Like Hatsumi Sensei's training, our dojo is relaxed and friendly but with one stipulation, "if you can't laugh, you can't come !"

Anyone wishing to begin training should read and agree to the Bujinkan Guidelines.
