Ed Lomax lived and trained in Japan for many years before he returned to Oz, a bit of Home and Away there!!!!!

In addition to having the grade of shihan - master level instructor - Gillian is also a former Australian judo champion, representing Australia at several world championships. She officiated in judo at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Gillian travels twice yearly to Japan to train with Dr Hatsumi and other senior Japanese bujinkan instructors (shihan), primarily Nagato Shihan and Noguchi Shihan. Gillian has also studied self-defence, hapkido and kungfu. She has developed self-defence curricula for the NSW Health Department and schools.

TOWNSVILLE DOJO

The Townsville group has been training since Jan 2004 under the guidance of Greg Hinks , Shidoshi . Greg has been training in the martial arts since 1972 , when he started judo at the Aitkenvale PYC . In march 1983 he left Townsville , moving to Port Macquarie and within 2 weeks had taken up Togakure ryu ninpo with the Roy dojo . In 1984 he moved to Sydney where he started training with the Roy school there at Artarmon , then north Sydney and central station [ the Tokyo tailor ]. In October 1989 he then moved to Perth and immediately started training with the group there , which was under the guidance of Steve Revnak , who had left the roy organization and was training in japan . After attending both of the Australian tai kai's in 92-3 , he passed his godan test in 1993 . He first traveled to japan in 1997 to train with Hatsumi sensei and his shihan , and since then due to his work in the building industry has been able to go back there every year for up to 3 months at a time . In 2003 he was recommended for judan whilst living in japan . He then decided to return to Townsville and start up a school , due to the lack of any schools in the North Queensland area . Unfortunately Townsville being so small has hindered chances of getting a good place to train , so we have been training outdoors and have been at our present location for 3 years .

Bujinkan Meden Dojo

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Welcome to our dojo website,

I hope we are able to provide you with an insight into the Japanese Samurai & Ninja warrior arts of the Bujinkan Dojo.

Originally much text was used but in the end, lengthy descriptions did little to convey the essence of what our art is really about, we are not martial entrepreneurs, martial actors / entertainers, or martial researchers, we are simply martial artists. A picture is said to be worth a thousand words so Iíve recently enhanced our photo gallery to convey the depth of our art by images rather than words. There is a saying ì..to only recite poetry with poets..î and I believe this pertains to all the arts. Without being involved in the practice of an art, it is very easily mis-understood. With photos there are still limitations, as the natural flow (vitality) of the movements is not visible.

The essence of our art cannot be expressed through words, images, video or such media as the internet, it is something more natural than that, it is a human feeling which only the heart can capture.

The Komichi Dojo is a school of Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu located in Pyrmont, Sydney Australia. Komichi Dojo was established in 2003 when Peter White (Shihan) arrived back in Australia after training in Japan for 4 years.

"Komichi" is Japanese word and translated means "path". Komichi Dojo represents a training hall that guides the practitioner to the true path of understanding in Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu as taught by Grandmaster Musaaki Hatsumi Sensei.

Peter White (Shihan)

Peter White has been training 17 years in the Bujinkan Budo-Taijutsu. He first began training in Judo in 1983, Kung-Fu and Wing Chun in 1984-88, Kickboxing in 1988-89 and then in Ninjutsu in 1989 under the Wayne Roy dojo's. In 1993, he began training under the instruction of Andrew Macdonald, who had just arrived back in Australia, after living and training in Japan for over 5 years.

In 1999, Peter then moved to Japan to work and train with Grandmaster Dr. Masaaki Hatsumi. For 4 years, Peter trained with Hatsumi-sensei, Nagato-sensei, Noguchi-sensei and many other great Shihan from Japan, and instructors from all countries around the world. He is one of few Australian instructors who has lived and trained in Japan. He returned back to Australia in July 2003, and has been teaching Australia's Special Forces Operations Group and also to the general public at various venues. He regularly returns to Japan to train and to stay up to date with the current practices as taught by the Grandmaster.

Peter is now a High School Teacher and instructs teenagers in martial arts at his school for sport and teaches at his dojo at the Pyrmont Community Centre.

Same as Ed, Tim also lived in japan, he also makes excellent training weapons which can be purchased from his website.

Lots of excellent info about Ben and the Bujinkan (sounds like a group!), also lots of great advice and he`s a nice guy to boot.

Stephen Miller, 2nd Dan
Stephen Miller began training in the Bujinkan in 1998 under Sensei Jim Eastgate and has had the opportunity to train with Shihan Phil Legare and Shihan Michael Pierce, as well as Shihan Geoffrey Prather. Stephen has attended many local seminars and self-defense charity fundraisers. After steady training, Stephen took over the Surrey Dojo in July of 2004, when Sensei Eastgate moved to Maple Ridge and reopened his dojo there. Stephen has previously trained Tai Kwon Do, receiving a black belt, and he has also trained in Judo.

Stephen is also a student of the Alexander Technique, a method that works to change (movement) habits in our everyday activities, relieving stress, improving ease and freedom of movement, balance, support and coordination.

As the only Bujinkan DÙjo in Manitoba, we provide a unique training opportunity; ongoing classes & workshops in Bujinkan martial arts (BudÙ/NinpÙ Taijutsu).

Our training is conducted with the support and encouragement of Hatsumi-sensei. We are directly affiliated to the Bujinkan Honbu (Headquarters) in Noda-shi, Chiba-ken, Japan. We also enjoy, and appreciate, the fellowship of other Bujinkan practitioners and enthusiasts worldwide.

The purpose of this site is to provide some information about the "old school" Japanese martial system known as Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu. Also known as Ninjutsu, Budo Taijutsu is several thousand years old, but was not accessible by North Americans until about 35 years ago.

As a warrior art, the philosophies of Budo Taijutsu are significantly different than modern-day sport martial arts. Success is not measured by who "wins" but by who "survives".

This site was also created to promote our club. Anyone wishing to persue Bujinkan training in the Vancouver, BC, Canada area can contact me. As a licensed instructor (Shidoshi) under Soke Dr. Masaaki Hatsumi, Shihan Phillip Legare, Shidoshi Scott White, and a frequent traveller to Japan (to study Budo Taijutsu under the top Japanese Shihans), I hope to pass on the art to my students as accurately as possible.

Here, you'll find information about our beautiful art, upcoming events, training ideas/photos, information about Japan, and links to other important sites.

Enjoy!
